DOE School Farm Visit with Kumano I Ke Ala
Student Farm Visit Registration!
(Please read the following information prior to completing the registration form)

Mahalo for your interest in bringing your keiki to experience ʻāina-based education with Kumano I Ke Ala!
We welcome K-12 school groups to participate in immersive, hands-on field trips that connect students with traditional Hawaiian agricultural practices, environmental stewardship, and the values of Aloha ʻĀina
Field Trip Overview
Kumano I Ke Ala offers unique, hands-on learning opportunities for students to:
- Explore Hawaiian food systems and sustainability
- Engage in culturally grounded environmental stewardship
- Develop a stronger sense of kūleana (responsibility) to the land
- Participate in place-based learning activities tailored to their age and curriculum
Each visit is customized to the needs of the farm and may include activities related to Hawaiian agricultural traditions, environmental restoration, and cultural learning experiences.
Requirements for School Groups
Pre-Registration
- All school groups must complete the School Field Trip Registration Form before their scheduled visit.
- Each student must have a signed waiver completed by their parent or legal guardian before participating.
- Teachers/chaperones are responsible for ensuring waivers are submitted prior to arrival.
Supervision & Chaperones
Schools must provide an adequate number of chaperones to accompany students. We recommend one adult per 5-8 students (adjust as needed based on your school’s policies).
What to Bring
- Comfortable work clothes that can get dirty
- Refillable water bottle
- Hat and sunscreen
- Snacks
- Medications
- Optional: Towel and change of clothes if working in wet areas
