Lactic Acid Bacteria

In this video, you will learn about Lactic Acid Bacteria.

Materials List:

  • Rice
  • Milk (any kind)
  • 2 containers (1 large mouth if possible)
  • Mesh or straining and/or funnel
  • Brown sugar (if no refrigeration)
  1. Wash rice
  2. Place rice wash water in container
  3. Cover with papert towel and fasten around rim with rubberband
  4. Store for 3-5 days (3 for hotter outdoor temp, 5 for colder)
  5. Look for a sweet fermentation smell as indication it’s ready
  6. In 2nd container you will mix the rice wash water with milk at a ratio of 1:10 (1 part rice water, 10 parts milk
  7. Cover with paper towel and fasten around rim with rubberhand
  8. Store for 48 hours 
  9. Using funnel, strainer and cheese cloth, strain the whey into the container.
